Castle Racks Up Major Contract Win Milestone

Building services business Castle is firming up its future after sealing a range of contracts across the North and Scotland.

Established in 2002, Castle Building Services specialises in the design and installation of Mechanical and Electrical services, covering contracts across the region and beyond.

The Hebburn based business has racked up deals totalling £175 million since first setting up, with a recent £3.3 million contract on a student accommodation scheme in Strawberry place, Newcastle, taking the firm to the milestone.

Castle founders Allan Carr and Tony Lister have revealed how the firm has also secured orders worth more than £12 million on schemes in North Ayreshire, Tarbolton, Dailly, and the Girvan and Largs Campus, where the firm will work on primary and secondary schools as well as community and leisure projects.

Closer  to home the team, which has grown from an initial four members of staff to 75, has made its mark on the region’s education, hotel and commercial sectors providing M&E (mechanical and electrical) design and installation services at the Premier Inn hotel within the former Co-op headquarters, the Central stations portico entrance into a covered space for retail units and additional self service ticket machines.

Most recently Castle completed work on Sunderland College’s Holmeside Vocational Campus, which is set to boost the fortunes of the city centre as it attracts students from further afield. The company expanded into Scotland two years ago, launching a second office in East Kilbride, where a number of major contracts have since been won with appointments to schemes such as the prestigious St Vincent Street Plaza – a speculative Grade A office and retail development in the heart of Glasgow – Caol Campus in Fort William plus a number of hotel projects for operators including Motel One, Ibis and Hampton by Hilton. Andy Dawson, who has recently been promoted to commercial director, said the firm was proud to have grown the firm from an initial turnover of £1.35m to its present level of £36m.

He said: ”Since launching, our main aims have been to focus on forging long-lasting relationships with clients by always providing them with a high level of service and creating sustainable employment. Despite a difficult recession period, our business model was robust enough to see us through and allows us to continue to increase annual turnover. Since then we have taken the Castle model into Scotland where it continues to be a great success. Importantly for any business, I’m very pleased to be able to say that a significant amount of our work comes from repeat business.”
